Melkie Anton

HDR Candidate

Melkie Anton is a PhD candidate with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at Monash University and serves as the HDR Representative on the Advisory Council.

Melkie’s research focuses on exploring the role of men as ‘allies’ in gender justice movements in Papua New Guinea. He is committed to engaging men and boys as allies in ending gender-based violence. His expertise spans primary prevention, gender-transformative education, men’s behaviour change programs, and culturally responsive development. He works extensively in the Pacific region. Melkie holds a Master of Development Studies from the University of Melbourne, a Postgraduate Diploma in Children and Youth Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies (Netherlands), a Diploma in Project Management from Divine Word University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Papua New Guinea. He is also a member of the Pacific Women’s Network Against Violence Against Women and remains deeply committed to advancing gender justice rooted in faith and human dignity.
