Emma is a settler researcher and feminist philosopher whose work critically examines intersectional readings of Continental feminist philosophy, especially the work of Simone de Beauvoir. Emma’s research also investigates Australian grassroots movements, exploring how community-led responses to violence are shaped by intersecting structures of power.

At CEVAW, Emma works within the Future Lives stream, partnering with First Nations women who advocate for missing and murdered women.

Previously, Emma held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre, where she led research on the economic and workplace impacts of family violence. She then served as a Research Fellow in the National Indigenous Disaster Resilience program, collaborating with First Nations communities across Australia to explore how connection to Country is impacted by the climate crisis.

Emma is also a trained rape crisis counsellor, qualified secondary school teacher and serves as a Director on the board of the Victorian Women’s Trust.
