CEVAW International Symposium 2026

We are delighted to invite our CEVAW Members and Partners to join us at the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) International Symposium: From Evidence to Action, taking place 18-20 November 2026 in Nadi, Fiji.

This year’s theme, “From Evidence to Action”, sets the stage for a powerful and timely gathering in the lead-up to the 16 Days of Activism 2026. The Symposium will bring together leading researchers, policymakers, regional practitioners, champions, and community representatives to explore how we can collectively translate evidence into meaningful, real-world impact.

This Symposium is also a moment to centre Fijian and regional voices, celebrate cultural richness, and strengthen collaborations. We are honoured to be working closely with the University of the South Pacific and the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement in co‑designing this event.

Program Overview:

The three days will spotlight the contributions of researchers, policymakers, regional practitioners, advocates and community representatives in shifting evidence to action to eliminate violence against women through Indigenous and survivor-centred, interdisciplinary, and Indo-Pacific collaborations and partnerships.

Wednesday, 18 November
We will open with a Traditional Welcome Ceremony. Together, we will examine the importance of Pacifika research methodologies in shaping relational responses to violence against women across the Pacific region. The first day will also include postgraduate poster sessions and an evening launch event.

Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November
We will explore how CEVAW research and evidence is being translated into meaningful, real-world impact. Through plenary sessions, panel discussions, and roundtables, participants will examine pathways for implementation, research translation, and accelerating progress toward eliminating violence against women. Thursday, 19 November will include an immersive evening event celebrating local Fijian cuisine and culture, offering attendees a unique opportunity to connect and experience the region. On Friday, 20 November, the CEVAW Handbook will be launched with drinks and canapes.

Please note this event is by invitation only.

Registrations close: 31 July 2026
