Akriti Verma is a researcher in Human–Computer Interaction whose work examines digital emotion regulation, online safety, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV). Her research focuses on how digital systems shape emotional experiences and behaviour in online environments. At CEVAW, Akriti analyses behavioural patterns in technology-facilitated gender-based violence using survey data, contributing to research on the causes and dynamics of online harm.

Previously, Akriti worked as a Research Assistant at ANROWS, where she contributed to systematic reviews on family and domestic violence for the Evidence Portal. She has also led co-design workshops at RMIT University to inform policy responses to cyber abuse affecting culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) students, and has experience in interdisciplinary projects involving behavioural modelling and data analysis.

Akriti completed her PhD in Human–Computer Interaction at Deakin University, where she designed and evaluated emotion-aware systems that support reflection and regulate online interactions. Her work includes developing and testing models that respond to emotional cues in digital environments to better understand and improve user experiences in online spaces. She holds a Master’s degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and has published research across AI, HCI, and digital wellbeing.
