Joanna Klieve-Longman

HDR Candidate

Joanna Klieve-Longman is a PhD candidate with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at Griffith University.

Joanna’s research examines the impact of climate-induced disasters on violence against women (VAW) and the role of First Responders in responding to this intersection. She brings to her research an extensive background in social work, where she has primarily specialised in domestic and sexual violence advocacy (including the intersections of health and legal responses and perpetrator interventions) and healthcare within the refugee maternity and community-based healthcare spaces. She has held roles in leadership and training within community services and healthcare, including leading the development, coordination and design of education and training programs aimed at enhancing responses and awareness of VAW within the primary healthcare sector, and engaged in collaborative co-design initiatives at local, state and national levels. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Queensland and a Master of Global Development from Griffith University.
