Louise Mataia

Partner Investigator

Professor Louise Mataia is a Partner Investigator with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at the National University of Samoa.

Professor Louise is the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the National University of Samoa. Her scholarly expertise spans Pacific history, gender and violence, Indigenous methodologies, and educational leadership. She brings proven skills in strategic planning, curriculum development and institutional advancement with a particular focus on creating frameworks that honour Pacific knowledge systems while meeting international standards of academic excellence. Projects on gender mainstreaming and policy development focused on gender inequality complement her role in CEVAW where she is a Partner Investigator and Samoan lead on the CEVAW project: Frontline practice responses to violence against women.
