Mariel Verroya

Research Fellow

Dr Mariel Verroya is a Research Fellow with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at Monash University.

Mariel’s doctoral research used a mixed-method approach in examining why gender expertise has struggled to gain a foothold in national-level scientific advisory processes, using the UK’s COVID-19 response as a case study. She has over eight years of practitioner experience on her work with the United Nations Association of Australia National Peace and Security Program. She is a lecturer in Gender and Security and is particularly interested in the role of institutions in addressing gender-based violence.
