Mercy Masta

Research Fellow

Mercy Masta is a Research Fellow with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at Monash University.

Mercy is a researcher and practitioner whose work focuses on Indigenous peace practices, gender-based violence, masculinities, and decolonial approaches to development, peace, security, and violence prevention in the Pacific. Her research also explores research methodologies and examines how Melanesian knowledge systems, relational ontologies, and customary practices that shape ways of knowing, being, and doing. She has published on Pacific masculinities, gender-based violence, Indigenous methodologies, and women’s leadership, with her research contributing to scholarly debates and informing policy, programming, and community-based initiatives across the Pacific.
