Sara Agostino

PhD Candidate

Sara Agostino is a PhD Candidate with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at Monash University.

Sara’s PhD focuses on understanding motivations for engaging in online sexual harassment towards strangers, with a comparative focus on Australia and the U.S. Using a mixed-methods approach, my research aims to provide a more nuanced understanding of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) behaviours and to inform policy and prevention efforts.

Most recently, she has been working as a researcher for the Christchurch Foundation for their Project Catalyst. This project is a multistakeholder initiative addressing the intersection of online violent misogyny, TFGBV, and violent extremism.

Prior to starting her PhD, Sara worked as a Senior Analyst at Deloitte Access Economics, where she contributed to policy evaluation and regulatory impact assessments for government clients. She has also worked in the NSW public sector on education and Aboriginal languages policy, and as a qualitative researcher in market research. Sara holds a Master of Public Policy and a Bachelor of International and Global Studies with First Class Honours in Sociology from the University of Sydney.
