Van Callaly

Research Fellow

Van Callaly is a Research Fellow with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at the University of Melbourne.

Van’s research areas include collaborative practices and frameworks that inform coordinated responses to gender-based violence and social policy issues, particularly at the intersection of family violence and substance use. Van Callaly completed her PhD in Social Work at the University of Melbourne in 2026. Her thesis explored cross-sector collaboration between family violence and substance use services on a systems level

Van’s current focus concerns implications of substance use coercion for policy and practice. Van is a qualified social worker and has previously worked in health settings to support clients experiencing problematic substance use.
