Daniela Philipson Garcia

HDR candidate

Daniela Philipson Garcia is a PhD Candidate in Politics and International Relations at the School of Social Sciences at Monash University.

Her doctoral dissertation combines quantitative and qualitative approaches to study the effects of militarisation on violence against women in Mexico’s so-called War Against Drugs. She has over a decade of experience working with grassroots and international civil society organisations and federal and local policymakers on progressive policy issues such as drug policy reform, police accountability, racial justice, and feminist foreign policy. She has a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University and is a Fulbright-García Robles Scholar. Her forthcoming paper, “The Antimilitarist Feminist Network: Addressing Mexico’s Security Failures,” is expected to be published in Global Studies Quarterly in late 2024.
