Georgia Naughton-Watt

HDR Candidate

Georgia Naughton-Watt is a PhD candidate with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at Monash University.

Georgia’s PhD focuses on queer women’s experiences of gender-based violence in relation to climate change and climate-induced disasters in Fiji. Her research explores how gender and sexuality shape gender-based violence against queer women, how this is in turn impacted by climate-induced disasters, and how queer women negotiate their safety, resilience, and protection in this context.
Her professional background is in international development, where she has spent over twelve years working on gender equality and gender-based violence issues across the Pacific and Asia.
Georgia holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Africa and International Development from the University of Edinburgh.
