Jenevieve specialises in the prevention of violence in the world’s highest-prevalence settings and leads multi-country research programmes in Afghanistan, India, Peru, Samoa, Rwanda, and South Africa. Her work has gained international recognition for advancing participatory methodologies in trials of complex health interventions and for pioneering co-produced research with communities most affected by gender-based violence.

Dr Mannell holds a PhD in Gender and Psychology and an MSc in Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and is an affiliated member of the British Psychology Society. A recognised authority on gender-based violence prevention, Dr Mannell works closely with local governments, UN agencies, and international NGOs, and her conceptual frameworks for community mobilisation has been used by UN Women and other multilateral organisations. She collaborates extensively with grassroots NGOs and women’s rights groups across four continents.
