Phil Doan Pham

HDR Candidate

Phil Doan Pham is a PhD candidate with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) at Curtin University.

Phil has an academic background in social work and economics. Prior to commencing his PhD, he worked in the Australian community sector, delivering frontline support to older people, children with disabilities, and families experiencing vulnerability. These professional experiences have significantly shaped his academic perspective, underscoring the importance of research that is both evidence-based and grounded in lived experience.
His research focuses on violence against women in the Indo-Pacific, across both high-resource and low-resource contexts. He examines how structural conditions and external shocks influence the risk of violence and aims to contribute to the evidence base on how policy interventions can more effectively prevent and respond to violence against women.
